With Durga Puja barely 10 days away, passengers are finding it tough to get confirmed berths in regular trains coming from New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Kolkata. Except on some days after Dussehra, berths are not available in any of these trains till Chhath festival.
However, this is not the case with special trains, which have been introduced by railways to tackle huge rush during puja. The railways has introduced more than 20 pairs of special trains to run on various routes between September and January.
While some special trains are being run between Patna and some other major cities of the country, several other special trains, which pass through East Central Railways have also been given stoppages at various stations under the zone.
According to CPRO, ECR, Amitabh Prabhakar, seats are still available in several special trains running during this period. Passengers may well avail the facility and confirm their journey, he added.
The New Delhi-Patna trains that show long waitlists include the 12310 Rajdhani Express, 12394 Sampurna Kranti Express, 12402 Magadh Express, 12392 Shramjeevi Express, 12368 Vikramshila Express and 13008 Toofan Express.
The Mumbai-Patna trains that show long waitlist include the 15645 Lokmanya Tilak Express via Patna, 12362 Mumbai-Patna, 13202 Lokmanya Tilak-Rajendra Nagar Express and 12141 Mumbai CST-Patna Express. Besides, the 12295 Sanghamitra Express and 12352 Danapur Howrah Express and 12360 Patna-Kolkata Garib Rath Express also show long waitlists during puja festival.
Two more puja special trains will be run between Howrah-Raxaul and Kolkata-Gorakhpur from November 7 to December 1.
The 03043 Howrah-Raxaul train will run from Howrah on every Wednesday and Friday, while on its return journey the 03044 Raxaul-Howrah will run on every Thursday and Saturday.
The 03131 Kolkata-Gorakhpur will run on every Wednesday from Kolkata and on every Thursday from Gorakhpur.
